The Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (TBVME) is committed to ensuring excellence in veterinary medicine and equine dentistry through licensing, regulation, and public service. Our primary goal is to protect the public while maintaining high professional standards for veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs), and equine dental providers (EDPs).

- Enforce Standards: By investigating complaints and sanctioning those who violate the law.
- Promote Excellence: Through education and communication with licensees and the public.
Our Commitment to Service
General Office Operations
- All staff will provide courteous and professional assistance.
- Callers will be greeted by a receptionist during office hours, not an automated menu.
- No caller will be placed on hold for more than one minute, except in unusual circumstances.
- Open records requests and publication orders will be processed within 10 business days.
Licensing and Examinations
- License verifications will be provided within 10 business days for written requests and during the call for phone inquiries.
- License renewals will be processed and sent within 10 business days of receiving the completed form and payment.
- Examination results will be mailed within 14 business days of receipt of the scores, provided all requirements are met.
Complaints and Enforcement
- Complaints: Investigated thoroughly and resolved within 180 days on average.
- Compliance Inspections: The Board conducts 750 on-site inspections annually.
- A public board member will be present during informal disciplinary conferences.
