Veterinarian 1

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs complex, journey-level veterinary work providing veterinary and consultative services in support of animal health, disease control, and regulatory programs. Assists with medical reviews related to TBVME complaints and works closely with investigators and legal staff. Serves as a liaison with animal disease control agencies and law enforcement, and may provide expert consultation on disease prevention, control practices, and public health issues. Provides testimony in criminal and administrative proceedings. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for independent judgment.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs complex (journey-level) veterinary work. Work involves providing veterinary and consultative services, as well as assisting with numerous medical reviews with regard to TBVME complaints. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Provides guidance on agency programs and services. Serves as a liaison between animal disease control agencies, staff, and law enforcement in criminal cases. May serve as a consultant on control practices for diseases and public health problems. May provide guidance to others. Performs related work as assigned.
  • Works closely with TBVME investigators and the legal department.
  • Provides testimony in criminal and administrative court settings.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medicine principles, practices, and procedures; animal disease prevention and control methods and procedures; state and federal animal disease control rules and regulations; epidemiological methods and techniques; and sanitation and quarantine regulations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $76,530.00 – $129,430.00 Per Year DOE (Depends on Experience)
