New World Screwworm: Veterinary Resources

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) encourages you and your staff to be aware of the current New World screwworm (NWS) situation progressively moving through Central America into Mexico. The re-emergence of NWS in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala beginning in mid 2023 and early 2024, and the detections emerging in Southern Mexico increases the threat of reintroduction to the United States markedly.
